★ Our Verdict

The ZTE Axon 7 offered flagship-level specifications, a stunning display, and unparalleled audio experience for its price point, making it a compelling alternative to more expensive devices.

The ZTE Axon 7, released in 2016, was a highly-regarded smartphone known for its exceptional audio and strong performance at a competitive price. While it offered a premium experience with its QHD AMOLED display and Snapdragon 820 processor, it is now an older device. If considering a purchase today, be aware that it no longer receives official software updates, meaning it runs an outdated version of Android (up to 8.0 Oreo) and may have security vulnerabilities. Battery life on a used unit will likely be degraded, and finding replacement parts or official support could be challenging. It could still serve as a secondary device for media consumption due to its excellent speakers, or for enthusiasts interested in older Android hardware, but it is not recommended as a primary daily driver in 2026.
